Release notes

Amiga Imager v0.86

A leaner v0.86 release with faster builds, more reliable package installs, new Classic P-Vision support, and clearer PiStorm guidance.

  • Beta release
  • Faster builds
  • Better Classic and PiStorm support

Beta - macOS 14+, Apple Silicon and Intel. Current downloadable build: 260517.

What's new

v0.86 is mainly about making Amiga Imager feel more dependable in real use. Builds are quicker, optional software installs behave more consistently, and the hardware-specific paths for Classic and PiStorm systems are easier to understand.

  • Faster builds - the full PiStorm validation run dropped from 13m 6s to 9m 31s, and a fresh Classic P-Vision build now completes in 8m 36s.
  • More reliable package installs - optional packages now follow one shared build plan across the app and scripts, which fixes cases where installs or follow-up icon steps could be skipped.
  • New Classic P-Vision support - A600 and A1200 builds can now target P-Vision directly, including the screen mode data needed for a cleaner first boot.
  • Clearer PiStorm guidance - PiStorm16 + FrameThrower continues to work on prerelease firmware, while PiStorm32 Lite is confirmed on stable firmware with the correct A1200 ROM.
  • Cleaner build logs - false warnings around UHCTools mirror hashes and Classic debug HDF export have been removed.

Good to know

  • PiStorm32 Lite prerelease firmware is still not recommended for the current A1200 test path.
  • MiSTer RTG (UAEGFX) + PPP networking is included but still needs more hardware confirmation.
  • Additional Classic RTG cards and NICs still need broader testing.

Also in this release

  • Build manifest version 3
  • Expanded automated test coverage for the new build-plan flow and P-Vision path
  • Signed and notarized universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel
