Release notes

Amiga Imager v0.87

A more polished v0.87 release with an overhauled settings experience, new A314 Classic networking, and broader real-hardware confidence for PiStorm and P-Vision setups.

  • Beta release
  • Overhauled settings
  • A314 and Classic networking

Beta - macOS 14+, Apple Silicon and Intel. Current downloadable build: 260519.

What's new

v0.87 focuses on polish and confidence. Day-to-day settings are easier to manage, Classic networking gets a new A314 path, and the current PiStorm and P-Vision configurations have been revalidated on a wider set of real machines.

  • Overhauled settings window - settings now live in dedicated Build, Storage, PiStorm, Classic, and Debug panes, making SD-card headroom, asset sources, boot bundle options, and diagnostics much easier to manage.
  • New A314 Classic network option - Classic builds can now target Clockport Pi Interface (A314) directly. Amiga Imager installs the A314 drivers, Roadshow defaults, Pi shell command, and the PI0: and PD0: to PD3: mount entries for PiDisk-style workflows.
  • Optional A314 hardware override - the new Classic settings pane can write Devs:a314.config with a custom clockport address and interrupt when you need to match a specific hardware setup.
  • Better build safeguards - the app now validates the A314 path more carefully, blocks invalid Roadshow and config combinations earlier, and surfaces the A314 network details in the build summary.
  • Broader hardware confirmation - stable-firmware PiStorm is now confirmed on two A1200 systems, and P-Vision is confirmed on two A1200 + TF1260 + P-Vision systems.

Confirmed hardware

  • All three target platforms currently produce booting images: PiStorm / Emu68, Classic Amiga, and MiSTer / Minimig.
  • Classic networking is now confirmed on X-Surf, 3Com 3c589, ZZ9000, and A314.
  • Stable-firmware PiStorm is now confirmed on two A1200 systems.
  • P-Vision is confirmed on two A1200 + TF1260 + P-Vision systems.

Still being confirmed

  • ZZ9000 RTG at boot is implemented, but still waiting for the final direct-boot RTG confirmation in the current test cycle.
  • VA2000 RTG at boot is also implemented, but still needs final hardware confirmation.
  • Vampire V2 in the Amiga 2000 is still waiting on feedback from the external test path.

Good to know

  • A314 networking uses fixed Roadshow defaults: 192.168.2.2 via 192.168.2.1, DNS 8.8.8.8, and a 15-second boot wait before the PI0: mount step.
  • PiStorm32 Lite prerelease firmware is still considered opt-in testing. Stable firmware remains the recommended path.
  • Classic cleanup also removes an extra root-level Keymaps shortcut from the Classic system image.

Also in this release

  • Expanded automated test coverage for the new A314 argument path
  • Signed and notarized universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel
