1.0 Beta

Amiga Imager 1.0 Beta

The circle closes. A normal build now takes your existing systems along – from an image or straight from your old card – and puts the boot menu in front of them. Any card can be saved as an image, or as an HDF for emulators. And on MiSTer the network is simply there at boot, with a new BigMig core for RTG and sound.

  • Your new system plus the ones you have
  • Systems straight from a card
  • Save a card as an image or HDF
  • MiSTer: Ethernet at boot, BigMig with RTG

Beta - macOS 14+, Apple Silicon and Intel. Build: 261107.

The first beta of Amiga Imager 1.0, released on 7 November 2026 at Amiga Meeting Nord 2026 in Neumünster. Feature-wise this is 1.0; what stands between it and the final release is whatever you find. Please report anything odd. Thank you to all testers – above all to Dirk, whose multi-system cards found most of what is fixed here.

Your new system plus the ones you have

With Settings → Build → Boot manager for images with several systems, a normal build offers Other systems on this image: add Coffin, AmiKit, AGS or an older card of yours, and the AmigaOS this build installs becomes the first entry of the boot menu. Blank-image mode is no longer needed for it.

Systems straight from a card

Add System from Card… reads the Amiga partitions of an SD or CF card, or of a disk in a USB adapter – your old PiStorm card, a CF card out of an A1200. The card is only read. The partitions you choose are saved as an image file first, so with a single card reader you take the old card out and put the new one in before Build & Write to Card.

Or take it from an Amiga on the network, while it runs: the disk of any machine in the Amiga Fleet console that runs amiagent 0.14 or newer (amipkg upgrade amiagent). It is only read. For PFS3 volumes only the blocks in use come over, so a system disk of a few hundred megabytes is read in minutes, not hours. Keep the Amiga idle while it reads.

Save a card as an image or HDF

File → Save Card as Image… (also in the Amiga File Manager’s toolbar) saves the whole card as a backup that Flash existing image writes back, or its Amiga partitions as an HDF for UAE, FS-UAE, Amiberry and MiSTer – from a PiStorm card without its FAT boot partition, so its systems run in an emulator. Empty areas are skipped, so the file takes only the space the data fills.

New: a single drive – “Only DH1” – as an HDF of its own, with its file system (PFS3 included) and a partition table that lists just that drive, so it mounts on its own in an emulator and opens in the File Manager. And all of it works for an Amiga on the network as well: right-click a machine in the Amiga Fleet console and choose Save Disk as Image…

MiSTer

  • Ethernet at boot on the Minimig core. Images use the core’s A2065 network card by default (Minimig from 2026-08-23): the network is up when Workbench is, at about 450 KB/s instead of 11 KB/s over PPP. PPP over the serial port stays available in Settings → Emulators.
  • New: the BigMig core. ZZ9000 RTG – the image boots straight into 1280×720 –, ZZ9000Net networking and AHI sound, with the drivers from BigMig’s own guest disk. BigMig’s network is wired only; for a MiSTer on WiFi a script is written next to the HDF.

Multi-system cards

  • Systems on Emu68 1.0.7 no longer hang after the Kickstart jingle on a card that runs Emu68 1.1. The boot menu (1.12) now starts a waiting system before anything else is loaded.
  • A card with USB no longer loses the Emu68 1.0.7 that a 1.0 system such as AmiKit up to 12.8.3 needs.
  • RGB2RTG 0.78 is recognised: its kernels for Pi 3 and Pi 4 both go on the card, the Pi picks its own, and RGB2RTG’s display path is switched on.
  • A system that starts on RGB2RTG also gets RGB2RTG’s own programs: C:rgb2rtg, RGB2RTG-SoundMonitor and RGB2RTG-Native in Utilities, the HDMI audio driver for AHI (when AHI is installed) and the line in S:User-Startup that applies your settings at boot. For the Directory Opus menu, run C:rgb2rtg MENU once in a Shell.
  • The repair in Manage Amiga Software also finds a card whose Kickstart choice was never handed back, and hands it back.

Also

  • Blank images: the first partition can be deleted too.
  • Blank images with a boot menu ask for the ADF folder or ISO on their own tab. The boot menu’s partition is always FFS, so it needs the AmigaOS media even when every other partition is PFS3; the build used to start only after the folder was set on the Bootable tab.
  • Amiga File Manager, Software and Amiga Fleet are named in the top bar instead of hiding behind small icons.
  • Disks whose partitions use a different geometry than the disk’s RDB – common on large disks – are read correctly; their last partition could be off by several megabytes.
  • Bundles amipkg 0.7.11 and installs amiagent 0.14.0 (was 0.13.1) – the version the network import needs; amipkg is unchanged.
